Would this be the most unlikely comeback of all time?
We’re told that TV insiders are trying to get Amanda Bynes back on Nickelodeon — the network that launched her career as a child star, before her massive public breakdown.
A source said producers have been “trying to reach” Bynes — who recently completed a second year at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County — to come up with an idea for a new show with her.
We’re told the hope is that they could find a way to “work with her again in a positive and healthy way. She has a tremendous amount of talent.”
Bynes landed a role on the kids network at the age of 10 in “All That” and later starred in “The Amanda Show” from 1999 to 2002.
In 2012, Bynes got a DUI, which seemed to set off a downward spiral that involved unhinged Twitter sprees and ended with a psychiatric hold in 2014.
A healthier Bynes returned to the public eye in 2015 at an LA red carpet.
A Nickelodeon rep didn’t comment, but a source said, “We love Amanda, but it’s not true.”
Amanda Bynes has a HUGE reason to celebrate this weekend … we’ve learned she’s finally off probation.
Amanda’s lawyer tells TMZ … the actress’ probation for her 2014 DUI case ended Friday. You’ll recall she was busted for driving under the influence of Adderall.
We’re told life is good for Amanda right now. She’s still attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and is currently working on a fashion line she plans to debut later this year.
Move over, Britney … there’s another great comeback.
Amanda Bynes won’t be part of Nickelodeon’s “All That” reunion — she wasn’t even invited.
Sources close to Bynes tell us she found out about the reunion when a trailer was released online … she never got a heads up from producers.
Bynes got her start on the ’90s sketch comedy series, and went on to star in her own Nickelodeon show, “The Amanda Show,” a few years later.
Amanda tells friends she would’ve declined the offer anyway, because her focus these days is fashion, not acting.
As we reported, the “All That” reunion won’t feature new material. Instead it will be a lot of reminiscing with “All That” alums Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server.
Maybe producers just asked Ashley by mistake …
Amanda Bynes just learned ballet can be really expensive, because the lawyer who fetched her dancing shoes and helped guide her in court now wants thousands of bucks for his efforts.
Artemio Santiago, Esquire has filed legal docs claiming he was Amanda’s savior. Santiago says Amanda was a mess last October … refusing to take her meds while she was a patient at a Pasadena mental facility. He says Amanda hired him and the first thing he did was get her back on her meds.
Santiago says he became like an attendant, bringing her personal items like ballet shoes, tights, DVDs and various books.
You may remember after Amanda got out of the psych ward she was supposed to go to court but ended up eating lunch at a Hollywood diner with her lawyer. That was Santiago.
Now he wants around $16K for his troubles.
Amanda’s parents and the lawyer for the conservatorship have a very simple position … Amanda didn’t have the mental capacity to even hire a lawyer, so go kick rocks.
Good news/bad news for Amanda Bynes — she won’t be prosecuted for DUI … but the arrest could still get her thrown in jail.
We’ve learned the L.A. City Attorney has decided not to prosecute Bynes for her September 2014 DUI bust … for driving under the influence of Adderall.
We’re told the City Attorney doesn’t think he can sell the case to a jury because she had a relatively low level of the drug in her bloodstream.
Now the bad news. The City Attorney has referred the matter to the D.A., because driving with ANY Adderall in her system could constitute a probation violation. You’ll recall … the D.A. scored a DUI conviction against Bynes back in 2012 for driving under the influence.
The D.A. could try to revoke her probation, and she could be thrown in jail as a result. But here’s the reality … Amanda has serious mental health issues, and it’s unlikely the D.A. will go after her if it gets in the way of her treatment.
Amanda Bynes is OUT of her manic state … acting completely “normal” and her family thinks it’s nothing short of “mind blowing.”
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Amanda is off all meds, including Adderall, which caused her to get a DUI.
When you speak with Amanda there is no way you would know she’s been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity. She is completely lucid.
We’re told things have stabilized so much, her parents have given her limited access again to bank accounts. She spends her time reading, doing yoga, meditation and pilates … all stress reducers which doctors say are important for these mental disorders.
We’re also told Amanda’s recent trip to USC — where she’d like to enroll as a psych major — was all planned by her.
Here’s the rub. Doctors have told Amanda’s family, people with such mental illnesses sometimes rebound and they can be ok for months, only to relapse again.
The family believes during these stable periods, the best thing is to give Amanda enough freedom to enjoy it.
